A Pebble in the Pond was created in memory of Robert Allen Miller, my son, whom lost his life in the Russian River in Northern California on May 21. 2005. Although, Robert was an athlete, and a good swimmer, he was not prepared for the treacherous, and extremely cold waters.
His body was recovered six days later.
Sonoma County has vast lakes, rivers, and the ocean, which are to be enjoyed by all. Unfortunately, many drown in these beautiful locations. Whether it is the Abalone Diver at the Coastline, the teenager diving into a shallow river, an unsupervised child at the water's edge, or the individual who cannot swim, the result is the same, a needless drowning, which could have been prevented.
Many have under estimated the perilious conditions of the Northern California Waters, while at the same time, over estimated their swimming abilities, which leads to death.
A Pebble in the Pond promotes water safety education by hosting Events and Classes. Our movie "Don't Cry for Me" accompanies these educational forums, which demonstrate the skills of our local
Search & Rescue.
